Labrador Adds Veteran GOP Strategist to Campaign Staff
I’ll stand with Raúl.
Gubernatorial frontrunner Raúl Labrador announced today former Republican Party executive director Scott Phillips has joined his campaign team. Phillips has spent the past twenty years running local, legislative, statewide and federal campaigns, and serving in a variety of state and local Republican leadership positions. His nearly two decades of experience brings additional depth to Labrador’s campaign in strategic communications, grassroots organization, data acquisition, and resource deployment. Along with campaign manager China Gum, he is the second GOP executive director to enlist with Labrador, signing on as the campaign’s senior strategist and spokesman.
“After Scott decided to leave the Idaho Controller’s Office in mid-August, Becca and I met with him and his family to discuss our campaign and my vision for a stronger and brighter Idaho. Scott is one of the most capable and talented individuals I’ve worked with in the conservative movement in the state. He brings a level of expertise and a drive to win that enhances our campaign's ability to execute our statewide plan,” commented Labrador. “We are so excited to have Scott on our team."
Prior to leaving state government, Phillips served as a deputy controller for State Controllers Brandon Woolf and Donna Jones, and as a deputy chief of staff under Governor Jim Risch. “I’ve seen firsthand what it takes to govern,” said Phillips, “and know why Idaho needs a dependable, intelligent, and committed conservative governor. Idaho needs Raúl Labrador.” Phillips added, “I couldn’t let this opportunity to make Idaho a better place for my family and children to live pass by without being part of this effort. I'm pleased to join the Labrador team."
